Research projects are able to confirm, explain and interpret both long term and complex issues that require answers. However, they can be ambitious, difficult and time consuming to develop. As a result, its vital for research designers to scrutinize and rigorously review their work as they put the finishing touches to it. There are a few reasons why its necessary to apply exacting standards for research development. First, its required in order to present and obtain accurate and relevant data for any study. Without credible and valid information, a research project may reach false conclusions for the topic at hand. Secondly, it detects and corrects any errors that may have occurred during the research process (Kulkarni, 2016). Much like any large scale project, research requires the handling of an extensive amount of data and information, such as comprehensive figures and data. By conducting an in-depth look and review of the researched data, researchers are able to provide relevant and concise information to their audience. Additionally, close examination of data enables prioritization and focus on the subject at hand without becoming distracted by unimportant or irrelevant topics. However, great care must be taken to ensure research isnt too restrictive or methodical in its approach. Doing so can adversely affect data just as badly as inaccurate information. For example, too much time and energy may be spent on a particular aspect of a problem than of the bigger picture. This may take place at a considerable expense to the studys afforded timetable and/or resources. Furthermore, focus may be lost on the primary objective of the study, causing attention to steer away from the topic under review (Whitler, 2018). Lastly, too many details and information can create confusion and boredom to the intended audience. While the purpose of the study is not to entertain, it does require an attractive and suitable format to interest and grab the attention of the reader.

One reason why interpretation of findings is an important element in a high-quality research report is that that reader/viewer should want to pay attention to the research. Most people who look at a report will look more at the interpretation of the data rather than the raw data that was collected. Due to this it is important that a thorough examination of the data is done. Once that is done then the information should be presented in a clear and clean way to not confuse the readers and the findings should be presented logically and concise to reflect the data as accurately as possible. Another reason is reliability the results should address the hypothesis and make the data clear so it can be replicated in the future.
The understanding of data collection, examination and interpretation is what research in all fields focus on. True data interpretation and representation provide not only the researchers, but also the readers of the study to understand the variables of the study that have led to the results and whether or not the hypothesis was answered or not. Another benefit is that it is important for ethics. Since data can be manipulated, interpretation itself can be bias and the belief and reliability behind it can be called to question if there is no true data reported on it.
One disadvantage is that as more data is integrated into the study it may create interpretation that come hard for readers to comprehend completely. Another disadvantage is that if you go to far away from your study it could result in you losing some faith behind your research. As more data has been collected on it and if it shows that the initial proposal was not correct. The last disadvantage is that there mat be some bias in the scope of the data. If a researcher doesnt like what they collected or it may not fit their point of view than they may change or add data that would support their view. Two reasons interpreting the findings of a research project is an essential element in a high-quality research report are that it provides the reader with the whats in it for me information. The researcher has conducted the research so that others in the field can gain something from it. If the reader had to go through and interpret all the data and findings on their own it would negate the purpose of the research. Having a solid discussion portion within the research will aid readers and future researchers. It also lends to the credibility of the researcher. When the reader can see the work that has been put into the interpreting of the data, they are able to find a greater value in that work.
Numbers without meaning behind them are just numbers. Understanding what the numbers mean, what they represent, where or how they were obtained, all lead to a greater understanding of what the numbers and essentially the data represent. Having the understanding of the data you can then use it in verifying information and solidify the validity of the research.
One disadvantages of going too far beyond the scope of the data is that the researcher could lose sight of the objective and chase rabbits down their rabbit holes with nothing to show for it with regard to their task at hand. This lends to the next disadvantage it creates and that is with regard to time. A great deal of time can be lost when you veer of the path you are supposed to be on. Lastly you could create confusion. This could be confusion within yourself, your work, and the results you publish.
