Choose four (4) of the disorders listed below.  Using your textbook, the websites listed, and additional research, please answer the Activity Questions below.  I have also listed some movies that you may have seen that depict these disorders.

Activity Questions: (Answer the questions regarding the disorders (4) you chose)

Psychological Disorders:

1. Which four (4) disorders did you choose?  Why? Give a brief – in your own words – description of each disorder you chose.
2. What are some of the symptoms of these disorders?  Be specific to each disorder
3. What are some of the behaviors associated with each disorder?  Be specific
4. How are the family and other relationships affected by these disorders?  Be specific
5. How would the disorders you’ve chosen affect a person’s social interactions?  Be specific
6. How would the disorders you’ve chosen affect a person’s personality?  Be specific

Treatments:

1. What are some of the treatment approaches for each of the four disorders?  What are the major strengths or weaknesses of those treatments?  Be specific
2. For each of the disorders, would treatment or medication be more appropriate?  Or perhaps both?  Be specific
3. Is it important to consider cultural variables and gender in the treatment/therapeutic setting?  Give specific examples. 
4. How would knowing about psychological disorders help you in your chosen field?  Think terms of how you might interact with someone who has any of the four disorders you chose.  Be specific.
5. How has this assignment impacted you?  What did you learn?

Criteria for the paper:

• Paper should be three (3) full pages or more in length.  This does not include any cover sheet or reference page you add.
• Paper should be types in Times New Roman, 12 point font, double spaced with 1” margins.
• Organize this paper just like you would organize a good essay:  introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion.  Use either MLA or APA writing standard when citing your sources and creating the reference page.
• Four (4) outside sources in addition to your text book.  Your paper may require more than just five sources.  They should not all be Internet sources.  Include articles.
