Thank you.

The Quadruple Aim provides broad categories of goals to pursue to maintain and improve healthcare. Within each goal are many issues that, if addressed successfully, may have a positive impact on outcomes. For example, healthcare leaders are being tasked to shift from an emphasis on disease management often provided in an acute care setting to health promotion and disease prevention delivered in primary care settings. Efforts in this area can have significant positive impacts by reducing the need for primary healthcare and by reducing the stress on the healthcare system.

Changes in the industry only serve to stress what has always been true; namely, that the healthcare field has always faced significant challenges, and that goals to improve healthcare will always involve multiple stakeholders. Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue Assignment This should not seem surprising given the circumstances. Indeed, when a growing population needs care, there are factors involved such as the demands of providing that care and the rising costs associated with healthcare. Generally, it is not surprising that the field of healthcare is an industry facing multifaceted issues that evolve over time.

In this module’s Discussion, you reviewed some healthcare issues/stressors and selected one for further review. For this Assignment, you will consider in more detail the healthcare issue/stressor you selected. You will also review research that addresses the issue/stressor and write a white paper to your organization’s leadership that addresses the issue/stressor you selected.

To Prepare:

  • Review the national healthcare issues/stressors presented in the Resources and reflect on the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected for study.
  • Reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Discussion post for the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected.
  • Identify and review two additional scholarly resources (not included in the Resources for this module) that focus on change strategies implemented by healthcare organizations to address your selected national healthcare issue/stressor. Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue Assignment

The Assignment (3-4 Pages):

  • Describe the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected and its impact on your organization. Use organizational data to quantify the impact (if necessary, seek assistance from leadership or appropriate stakeholders in your organization).
  • Provide a brief summary of the two articles you reviewed from outside resources on the national healthcare issue/stressor. Explain how the healthcare issue/stressor is being addressed in other organizations.
  • Summarize the strategies used to address the organizational impact of national healthcare issues/stressors presented in the scholarly resources you selected. Explain how they may impact your organization both positively and negatively. Be specific and provide examples. Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue Assignment

Screening Purpose

Discuss why it is important to screen for this condition. This is where you address your community assessment and the reason for this need in your community/ population choice. Support your stance with statistics and information, ideally related to the location and population.

Population

Clearly address the demographics that are being screened; where they live, state, county, ages, races included etc. Provide a brief general community assessment as it related to the condition and the population.

Location/ Setting

Briefly explain where you are doing this. It should be very specific (e.g., Senior Citizen Center in Monroe Co on Saturday). Think about what kind of facility or area you will need. Include comments explaining how this location meets the needs of your target population and screening choice. Community Needs and Health Screening Initiative Assignment

Screening Activity

This section is what you are doing at the screening and should completely align with the screening guideline for the condition. Also all health promotion screenings include some brief prevention education component.

 Outcome Goals

Bullet specific goals here. What do you hope to accomplish with your screening?

Cost

This is the cost for you to develop and conduct the initiative. It is best displayed as a brief Word table showing what it costs you to conduct the screening; paper, equipment, rentals etc. Volunteers are fine, but everything is not free. Students must demonstrate they can develop a cost estimate for a community screening intervention that is realistic and takes into account financials. If there is a cost for the attendees that should go here as well.

Summary

Provide a summary of your screening, general benefit to the community and why it is important. Master’s-prepared nurse educators, leaders, nurse practitioners and all specialty nursing fields are contributors to health promotion in populations across the life span. This Assignment is focused on preventive screening applications in the community, workplace or school settings. You should be able to apply this knowledge to their specialty focus as it relates to health promotion and epidemiology. Community Needs and Health Screening Initiative Assignment

This should be a 3–4 page paper, excluding title page, and references. A person should be able to read your paper and understand fully what you are screening, where, when, the costs and how it is supported in the guideline. Ideally a person would be able to duplicate your screening initiative, based on the clarity you present. This paper should adhere to appropriate APA formatting and citation style. Case study #1

Mrs. Franklin-Jones was admitted from the Emergency Room to Cardiac Intensive Care one week ago with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. She has recovered as expected and is moving to the cardiac step down unit today. She is talking with Nurse Julie Hernandez, as she gets settled in her new room, “I was really surprised when I got that bad pain in my chest! I knew I had high pressure but I just didn’t think it was that bad. Leininger’s Culture Care Model Assignment. I try to take my medicine like they told me to in the clinic but sometimes I forget. I guess that I need to study those papers they gave me about what foods I should eat and not eat. I better take care of myself! Momma had bad pressure and it killed her! Who knows—I may even have to learn to cook different than I was taught in Jamaica! I may have to let Tomas do the cooking. He’s got more time at home now than I do since he lost his job. There isn’t too much time between my shifts at the school cafeteria and my new housecleaning job. You know my sister is coming up from Jamaica to see me. I think she is bringing me some bush tea. That’ll set me right!”

  • Using Leininger’s Culture Care Model, what factors in the story shared by Mrs. Franklin-Jones should be considered by Nurse Hernandez when planning for the patient’s discharge?
  • Why is the theory of Culture Care Diversity important in the delivery of nursing care for all patients?
  • Using Leininger’s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality, develop a plan of care for Mrs. Franklin-Jones.
  • Discuss the strengths and limits to Leininger’s Theory. Leininger’s Culture Care Model Assignment

Case Study #2

Claude Jean-Baptiste is recovering from post-hip replacement surgery and has been transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute adjacent to the hospital. When he enters the unit, he sees welcoming signs written in several languages including his own, Creole. Since there are no nurses on that shift that speak Creole, they use a language line to ask for translation services. During this initial nursing assessment, the translator informs Mr. Jean-Baptiste that the nurses invite him to have a relative at his side so that they can be sure to understand and meet his needs. He is asked about Haitian customs and beliefs that they might honor. Mr. Jean-Baptiste is encouraged to bring food and spiritual care items, and to share the warmth of his culture with the nursing staff.

  • Discuss assumptions of the Transpersonal Caring relationship. What is the nurse’s role?
  • How is love, as defined by Watson, evident in this caring moment?
  • How can the nurse creatively use self to create a healing environment?
  • Discuss the strengths and limits to Watson’s Theory.

This paper should include 2 outside references and your book. The essay should be between 1500 and 1750 words in length. Leininger’s Culture Care Model Assignment

Student response 1

Nursing is one of the largest professions globally, and as such, nurses have the potential to influence policy and politics on a global scale. When nurses influence the politics that improve and change healthcare delivery, they ultimately advocate for their patients(Oestberg, 2013). Many opportunities currently exist for RN’s and APRNs to actively engage in the policy review. Nurses have two different options through professional nursing associations or by way of policy committees through their employers. Student response 1

ORDER A PLAGIARISM – FREE PAPER NOW

The first opportunity mentioned is by way of joining and becoming involved in professional organizations such as the American Nurse Association (ANA), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). These organizations can all be utilized by nurses to review policies. Professional associations safeguard any implemented procedure and are practical and favor nurses(ANA, n.d.). Additionally, RN’s and APRN’s must have access to up-to-date resources to remain aware of what is happenings in healthcare policies, including within their states(Laureate Education, 2018).

Secondly, RN’s and APRNs can actively participate in policy reviews with employers’ policy committees. Nurses can get involved in the unit council meeting

and engage in the introduction of new policies. Through this process, RN’s and APRNs can enhance the opportunities in the influencing of a policy review

by ensuring the policy promoted are effective in their workplace(Oestberg, 2013).

There are many challenges that RN’s and APRNs can encounter while participating in policy reviews in the workplace. One challenge is keeping RN’ and

APRNs are up to date on the policy changes and the trending policies pending implementation. One way to overcome this challenge is to be sure that staff

remains educated on differences and involve staff in what is working well or not so well with the new changes.  Student response 1.Another challenge RN’s and APRNs may face is working with individuals and lawmakers who are from different backgrounds and differ in opinions. They may be less receptive to ideas generated by nurses simply because of nurses’ views of patients and the healthcare system as a whole(Oestberg, 2013). One way to overcome this challenge is to learn how to speak in the lawmaker’s language and gather support from the public and your local representatives. Student response 1

There are many strategies to communicate better when advocating policy reviews. One way to

Advocate for communicating the existence of opportunity is through training and good leadership. With adequate training through exemplary leadership, nurses can better understand their roles and work environment. They care to implement new policies effectively to enhance the well-being of their patients. Social media is another strategy to advocate the existence of opportunities. Through social media avenues such as Twitter and Facebook, nurses can bring public awareness. Nurses can utilize these network groups to spotlight issues that are not being heard but need change.
