RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument? Response 1- Marlene

  • How would you address confidentiality and a professional work arrangement with the community partners/agencies? ?

I know for my old job there are some forms you can sign to be able to release information. It must be signed by parents Since they have the rights to the child. I also know once the child is 18 they could also do a release of information if they sign.
In all other cases, if a student wants to join any type of community partners, or agencies that want to come into the school, Such as a community agency conducting a group Or a university doing a study there must be some type of confidentiality arrangement. Meaning parents must consent for their student to participate.

  • What three agencies would it be beneficial to have a relationship with as a Counselor?

Agencies that I would find beneficial To have a close relationship Department of social services. Department of social services can help with food such as cal fresh. Help with homelessness, Such as helping families find homes or stipends to pay for hotels. A point contact with child protective services. As a counter, we are going to counter your many questions, and or make reports. We may be working alongside social workers, who come visit children at the school. We may need to reach out to social workers as well. Social workers usually have great resources as well. We can provide to parents.
To this list, I would also add the local Medi-Cal. For me, it would be IEHP. This is especially helpful if you work for a title I school. Many of our students are low income, and majority have IEHP. During open house or back to school night we have them set up a booth so parents are aware of the services they offer. We also have an area in the counseling center with list of all the services they offer. It’s nice to have a person tied to them because we can ask many questions as a lot of protocols and changes are made. I used to have a person that would come in to talk to our teenagers about how they can pick their doctors and services they offer for our foster youth teens, Who at the age of 13 say on their medical records.  Read Description Response (Introduction Of Individual Counseling Theories) Week 8

Response 2- Ameila

  • How would you address confidentiality and a professional work arrangement with the community partners/agencies?

I have been lucky to work with many local community partners including, CPS, District Attorney’s office DDA’s, Different Mental health provider and medical agencies that support our students, For most of these organizations the district creates a Memorandum of Understating (MOU) that allows communication between the 2 agencies and for some of these organizations we also have a to sign releases. These helps keep student information safe and also set appropriate boundaries.

  • What three agencies would it be beneficial to have a relationship with as a Counselor?

CPS is always a good agency to have positive relationships with. I sometimes call them for support like wrap services where the parent just needs additional services not necessarily a CPS report.

In our Mountain school we have a large Native American population. I have worked hard over the last 5 years to build a relationship with the Tribal Social Worker as well as the tribal council to help support the tribal families in the school.

Riverside University health care system provides many services to our students such as mental health, parent partners, drug and alcohol counseling for our high school students. They are always willing to help our students and families.  Read Description Response (Introduction Of Individual Counseling Theories) Week 8

Explain why various regions of the United States have different social norms. Often, television situation comedies depict family life in a generalized, even stereotypical way. Compare and contrast the social norms depicted in television programs with the same social norms where you live.
In the US social norms vary by family social; circle, community, city, state, and region. There are three main reasons social norms are not concrete in the US. One diversity is a key to our culture. Two, The US is split into different regions that embrace different norms from their family history. Thirdly, citizens have the freedom to embrace different norms that come from their family history. Such as a multitude of beliefs, ideas, and practices that have became understood as social norms. TV reflects the change over the years. Since the 1950’s TV has reflected the changes of values. Form example, between the 1990’s and 2000 TV networks began catering to events that have become normal in everyday living where I am from. Such as catching a diverse audience by capturing and reporting more content on single parenting and or gay couples being accepted as a normal thing. Tv has instead of being centrist, they’ve become caterers to politi cal taste and broadcasters have created a concept of an instant celebrity through the genera of reality television. Social Norms Assignment
Explain the reason why or why not the U.S. eclectic dining habits demonstrate the diverse nature of U.S. culture.
We as Americans are a combination in a melting pot (so to speak), of many cultures. Each culture in America brings their own culturist culinary traditions. You can find food of most any culture if you look hard enough. Foods varying from Chinese restaurants, burrito trucks and even a polish bakery can be found almost anywhere. Unlike other countries the US promotes local foods and has a wide variety of cuisines. Sometimes you can even find a fusion of several different cultures in a restaurant. Of course, other countries have been eating this way for a long time. Other countries bring their food traditions to America and they are celebrated, studied and eagerly adopted. Thanks to how diverse the US is I would not find it surprising that foreigners find our way of doing things weird, (Dewees, 2015).

QUESTION:

1a:  Work Breakdown Structure

The Practice Standard for Work Breakdown Structures (2006) describes two quality principles for work breakdown structures. The first principle (a quality WBS is a WBS constructed in such a way that it satisfies all the requirements for its use in the project) has two sub-principles: (1) there is a set of CORE characteristics that must be present in every WBS; and (2) there is an additional set of USE characteristics that may vary from one WBS to another. Describe the use of work breakdown structures by project managers in your organization and the extent to which the two quality sub-principles, listed above, are implemented.

Role Of Emotional Intelligence

Assisting someone through an emotional experience requires a clinical practitioner to challenge themselves in deepening their own emotional awareness through experiential and cognitive processing.  One’s willingness to deepen their emotional intelligence is crucial in therapeutically leading others down their own awareness path, one must learn how to process before they can guide someone else in processing.  Based on your readings of emotional intelligence and the results of the EQ questionnaire (questionnaire found here),  students will consider the questions below and provide a reflective discussion board post based on what they gleaned about themselves. What would be a barrier to remaining engaged if your client expressed a topic such as sex, sexual orientation, gender orientation, masturbation, suicidal thoughts, or self injurious behaviors? Could your discomfort with an emotion result in your leading a client away from processing the emotion unintentionally or intentionally, and if so, how can enhancing your emotional EQ deter this?
