I believe that relevance is the best way to select articles in psychology for publication. Relevant articles will generate new interest, produce new lines of research, lead to new discoveries, and/or influence existing research. Peer Review is defined as “a process of subjecting an author’s scholarly work, research or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field” (Kelly, Sadeghieh, & Adeli, 2014, p. 2). It ensures high quality research is published provides a trusted form of scientific communication. The strengths of peer reviews are that it “helps ensure that papers published in scientific journals answer meaningful research questions and draw accurate conclusions based on professionally executed experimentation” (Kelly, Sadeghieh, & Adeli, 2014, p. 1). Peer-reviewers can help improve the quality of publications by making suggestions on how to improve the manuscript and by identifying errors that need correction. The peer-review process also acts as a filter to prevent low quality papers from reaching the scientific community. The peer-review process does have some weaknesses however, such as the long amount of time the process can take to publish, and due to perceived bias by the editors and/or reviewers (Kelly, Sadeghieh, & Adeli, 2014, p. 1). It can also limit creativity as researchers may not pursue research questions that might generate new interest or research if they believe that their work will likely be rejected by their peers upon review. When thinking about this question, the thing that first came to mind is the relevance to the article for selecting for publication. There are a lot of reasons why you need to have written something of the relevance of the psychology topic, one being is knowing what the publisher is looking for when it comes to the topic. Another way that goes hand in hand is the creativity with the relevance. As authors, you want to have an attention grabber and something that you are interested in. From the chart of the first article, it shows the flowchart of when it is the initial review by editor, there are two options. Manuscript fits editorial platform or editor rejects manuscript. Given those two directions to go, you want to make the relevance is important because the other option is rejection. The weaknesses of this aspect is if you are not passionate about the topic, but there are is also options to become passionate about the topic. Psychology homework help
