Questions and Answers

Question 1

Javier Tamayo: What are your favorite memories of nursing school from your student days?

Annette Caravia: My favorite memories from nursing school are tied to my connections with my peers and the interactive sessions I had with my coursemates and instructors.

Javier Tamayo: My favorite memories are the classes and the interactive anatomy sessions.Project

Annette Caravia: Yes, I remember how hard we studied, we had an study group and we all had very good grades, recognized by our instructors.

Question 2

Javier Tamayo: How did your first year of RN practice compare to your nursing practice today?

Annette Caravia: my first year as an RN was somewhat scary because I was now responsible for patients while fresh out of school. I took this fear and turned it into a challenge and thought of the first year as phase 2 of my education. Then I switched my practice from pediatric to adults and it has been a tremendous experience. Now a day I am confident in my practice, the fear is no longer there but I feel that we have to continue practicing, studying and refreshing our skills every day.Project

Javier Tamayo: I agree with you. It’s safe to say nursing is a skill that has to be constantly improved as one progresses in their career.

Question 3

Javier Tamayo: What were some nursing practices that you used in your earlier years that are no longer used today? Why are they no longer used?

Annette Caravia: When I entered nursing, most of the recording was done on paper, and record submissions were made manually. Currently, we use modern technology to make patient and staff records.

Javier Tamayo: the nursing profession has undoubtedly become more efficient in patient care due to the use of modern technology to provide care.

Question 4

Javier Tamayo: How have specific persons or events significantly impacted your practice over the years?

Annette Caravia: Several events have changed my nursing care for patients. The staff I worked with during my first year as an RN was one of the most influential groups. They taught me the most efficient forms of care of the time—a skill I have constantly been improving.

Javier Tamayo: I have certainly seen how your professionalism has improved over the years I have known you.

Question 5

Javier Tamayo: How have you impacted the nursing practice of others?

Annette Caravia: I always strive to ensure that I teach fresh RNs the most efficient way to provide patient care. As a clinical educator, I ensure that my students are well versed with the regulations for nursing practice while maximizing the skills they have acquired during their course.

Javier Tamayo: I can certainly back that information since I was one of your students, and you significantly impacted your students.

Annette Caravia: (laugh) I’m glad for that. The major achievement is the professional grow of my students.

Question 6

Javier Tamayo: What contributions have you made to nursing in the areas of leadership, provision of care, and/or evidence-based practice?

Annette Caravia: it has not been easy, but I have been trying to improve my leadership skills, especially in my department. I suggested formulating departmental nursing regulations to ensure every nurse works for the best possible patient health outcomes. All these regulations were based on sound research in recent peer-reviewed nursing and oncology journals.

Question 7

Javier Tamayo: What challenges in today’s nursing can be improved using lessons from the past?

Annette Caravia: Nursing challenges have changed significantly over the years. Nevertheless, the lessons learned over the years can be used to solve modern problems. Problems such as working long hours, shortage of nurses, and workplace hazards are some contemporary problems that can be solved using lessons from the past.

Javier Tamayo: nursing being a continuous career would make it clear that most modern problems can continue to be solved using lessons from the past.

Question 8

Javier Tamayo: Who is your favorite famous Nurse from nursing history?

Annette Caravia: my favorite Nurse in history would be Florence Nightingale

Javier Tamayo: she was a real revolutionary.

Annette Caravia: from nursing history Nightingale is a model for nurses. I love to call my nurses students as “my Nightingales”.

Question 9

Javier Tamayo: How do you use that famous Nurse’s examples in your own practice?

Annette Caravia: Florence stood for the strive for change when the change was warranted. I use her example to solve issues in my department by improvision and critical thinking.

Javier Hernandez Tamayo: nurses must be open to change for better health outcomes.

Question 10

Javier Tamayo: Based on your nursing past, what advice would you give to the new Nurse today?

Annette Caravia: Advice I would give to a new nurse would be:

1. Do not be afraid to ask questions when unsure of something.

2. Call out those “experienced” nurses who bully or harass you

3. Every day as a nurse is a learning opportunity.

Javier Tamayo: That is some concrete advice. Not only for the new Nurse but also for those still in nursing school.

Conclusion:

Gratitude

Javier Tamayo: We have come to the end of this interview, and I am grateful to you for sparing your time to have this interview and allowing me to record your responses and submit them. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to engage with you. I look forward to more interactive sessions with you in the future.

Optional – Annette Caravia: It was a pleasure. I’m glad to continue contributing in your nursing education.

Summary

Javier Tamayo: It is clear that the nursing career is challenging and has significantly advanced over the years. Having this interview with an experienced nurse has helped me see this journey through your eyes and expertise. We emphasized the nursing role under Florence Nightingale model and the need of our nursing skills. Thank you again for your time.

Annette Caravia: You welcome.

Alibaba China’s and World’s Largest E-Commerce Company

Introduction

Alibaba is one of the largest e-commerce organization in the world. It is the most popular and fastest growing e-commerce online shopping market with billion-dollar transactions on its online site, more than Amazon and eBay transactions combined. It uses electronic payments services, web portals, cloud computing services, and search engines to provide Business to Consumer (B2C), Consumer to Consumer (C2C), and Business to Business (B2B) sales services. It comprises three sites, Tmall, Taotao, and Alibaba.com, which are the world’s largest B2C, C2C, and B2B. Alibaba’s vision aims at building future commerce infrastructure and aspiring to be a good organization that will last for over 102 years. It envisions that its customers will live, work and meet at Alibaba. Its mission is to make it easy to carry out business anywhere. Alibaba’s vision and mission have a clear understanding of the growth path that it needs to take. They focus on the company’s e-commerce, internet business, and technology, offering a solid foundation for its future business expansion (Leavy, 2019).Project

Alibaba strategic Profile

In order to grow, any e-commerce company relies on strategic information. Therefore, they should concentrate on strategic, financial, and operational systems. Operational information creates competitive advantages for the company as its help in the management of day-to-day activities such as controlling stocks and costs. On the other hand, financial information helps the company conduct budgeting, finance, and accounting operations effectively. Lastly, e-commerce strategies and technologies are linked due to strategic needs. One of the strategies Alibaba has employed is cost leadership. The company targets a vast market and offers low prices; hence, it has expanded fast in the Asian and global markets. As the company’s core business is based on e-commerce, the cost of operations has been reduced due to using technology. Most Alibaba customers are companies that display their goods on the website. Costs associated with purchasing are reduced since manufacturers do not have a physical store for displaying their goods, and customers do not have to travel to China to view and make purchases. Another strategy that Alibaba uses is innovation. Technology and IT have helped shape the e-commerce services and products offered by Alibaba. By forming alliances with MasterCard and Visa, the company has gained a competitive advantage by creating market opportunities. Although the online payment platforms have potential risks, there is a transformation of business features brought about by these innovative ways of doing business (Kwak et al., 2019). Project Since Alibaba has various divisions, it is hard to find an essential solution for all its subsidiary companies; however, with its current strategy, it can implement cost-saving strategies that promote growth in its subsidiaries.

Alibaba’s current business strategy can be labeled as business-to-business as it offers a platform to buyers and suppliers. In addition, it has developed its marketing strategy and gained a target audience through this platform. Thus, the organization is working toward digitizing the entire supply chain infrastructure to have a holistic realm of e-market.Project

Similarly, Alibaba has grown into a significant global e-commerce company seems that its strategy is working for it. The company has been able to achieve its short-term and long-term objectives. Through the cost leadership strategy, Alibaba has maximized revenues through sales by simplifying the goods buying process and retaining the quality of the goods. By continuously pursuing this strategy, the company is expected to gain more success in the future. Additionally, Alibaba will be able to expand its market and gain more customers through this low-risk strategy. It is also crucial that the company find ways to maintain low risks and increase business performance as they aim to maximize profits. Alibaba will increase its performance and customers and reduce risks if it maintains the current strategy. However, the company may need to invest more in research and development to address its market growth strategy (Kwak et al., 2019).Project

Alternative International Market Entry Methods

Alibaba has the opportunity to partner with other global companies to gain more access to the foreign market and grow its customer base through digitization. Even though Alibaba will focus on the growth of one market at a time, if it adopts this method, it will create strong relationships with the target market. Hence, creating a brand recognizable by the customers is the most commonly used platform by the target audience.

Alibaba used several company structures as support systems when it entered the digital market segment. Its divisional and functional structures permitted the organization to succeed in the global market as they exist in the company as a single matrix structure. One will realize that Alibaba uses its structural model to handle its goals in particular economic situations (Kwak et al., 2019). However, Alibaba can operate globally across all states with a few exceptions, with the current matrix organizational structure offering competitive advantages and keeping processes running.

Choice Of Structure and Alibaba’s Chosen Strategy

The matrix technique has affected Alibaba in many ways, including its objectives. Premises for the business expansion are designed immediately since the matrix model suggests that tools of the structural organization are included in the corporate framework. However, the matrix structure has assisted the company in expanding into the international market, which is essential for initial growth and positive influence in the global setting. It has also allowed Alibaba to align its processes within the supply chain management framework. Hence, Alibaba has developed systems of managing its resources to capitalize on the effectiveness of the current approach and maintain uninterrupted performance processes (Leavy, 2019).

Conclusion

Alibaba has the most remarkable and innovative business model in the modern business world. It is more significant in size than most e-commerce platforms combined. It uses strategic information systems to control costs, differentiate itself, determine its business processes, and develop innovative services and products online—the company technology offers services and products without physical and time limitations. The company utilizes one or more strategies in planning business processes to realize organizational goals. The company has successfully expanded into the digital market after analyzing consumer preferences changes.

Moreover, interactions across its supply chain, which are crucial for the company, are kept organized and orderly. Through the use of the matrix technique, rapport is established with its employees. Alibaba was the first company to link foreign firms directly to manufacturing firms through its website. It made outsourcing for production materials easy and cost-effective since intermediaries were eliminated that making the prices of materials rise (Leavy, 2019). It has also exposed the China economy to the global market as many foreign firms are drawn to do business with China; hence there is an increase in orders placed with Chinese firms.

Note: This course has major project assignments that will be due in Weeks 3 and 5. It will take more than a week’s effort to adequately complete them. Plan time to start the research and other work for those assignments earlier than the week in which they are due.Project

In the course project, you will analyze the corporate strategies of several organizations. In Weeks 1 and 2, you will be looking at GE. In Weeks 3 and 4, you will be looking at Alibaba. In Week 5, you will be looking at your own organization. Every week, you will analyze particular elements of an organization’s corporate strategy, eventually producing an integrated analysis of your own organization in the final week. Your textbook readings will help you identify the organizations’ corporate strategies. Use the South University Online Library to research the firms, the Hoover’s database is a good place to start.

Project
Begin by downloading the
Course Project Guidelines . From the Guidelines, you will gain an understanding of what will be required in the Week 5 paper. For the Week 5 work, you may select your own organization or a different one (with instructor approval) as the subject of the final paper. Be sure to contact your instructor early in the course if you have questions about whether the organization you intend to use in Week 5 is adequate for the project.

For this week, analyze GE’s corporate strategy. GE is moving away from some of its financial services emphasis and strongly into the healthcare field. Focus on GE’s healthcare strategy. Begin your paper with a one or two paragraph background about GE so that anyone picking up the paper would learn something about who the organization is and how they are involved in the healthcare field.
