Digital technology is replacing how work is designed and organized in the workplace. With the growing technology there is a greater work life balance as there is more sharing of information with a variety of individuals.(Duan et. al 2023) The use of technology increases the work flow of particular projects and provides solutions to various situations within the company. Artificial intelligence and reviewing the “big data” assists in the decision making of the company. An example demonstrates that Zulily is an online retailer that used combination of digital competence to create Machine Learning Practices(Migliore, 2017) Machine learning processes collects and organizes the processes, analyze data to ensure that customer satisfaction is assured. Zulily’s motto is “Do something special every day to provided customers(primarily moms) a unique and engaging online experience.(Migliore, 2017). With a new growing technologically savvy workforce, along with a shifted world especially after a global pandemic, innovative technology strategies have strengthened the workforce, organizational culture and performance. Consider the governance process of an organization, there must be a system that is essential and with technology that can help. Turel, et al (2017) provides evidence and validation to previous research by demonstrating that board-level IT governance remains a significant indicator of organizational performance, even when considering various organizational and environmental factors. And although collaborations linked to innovation are now prevalent, they represent a relatively recent development, especially in industries characterized by rapid technological advancements and elevated innovation-related risks. (Archibugi, and Iammarino, 2002) They continued to state that notably, agreements that transcend national borders make up nearly 60 percent of the recorded collaborations have to do with technological advances of communication. Technology continues to be a growing force in the workplace, it is for that reason that it continues to be important and essential in the workplace.

When it comes to the use of technology in organizations, I fell that it is a double-edged sword. Sometimes it can be of great benefit to the organization and its structure, while other times it can be a hinderance. Since the implementation of social media and networking digital technologies have transformed the way we communicate within organizations and impacted the development of competencies and performance (Mirdhal et al., 2023). However, organizational leaders should be mindful when adopting new technologies. While new technologies are great in encouraging improvements, motivations, and innovations, if the technologies being adopted or utilized are not welcomed or perceived as essential/ beneficial to the organizational culture, then resistant to the technology can lead to disruptions and negative effects on the organization (Chouki et al., 2018). One example I can think of this happened during the pandemic. In California, the majority of schools went on distance learning, and suddenly, teachers who had a large resistance to technology in the classroom were forced to utilize it to do their jobs. Due the rush in the transition to distance learning and the lack of support in learning how to operate LMS and video conferencing many teachers either couldn’t teach effectively or simply quit as they felt that they were no longer capable of doing their jobs. This started a massive teacher shorter that California is not really currently able to handle. Outside of the pandemic, there has been a larger shift into utilizing computer adaptative software in the classroom, with districts forcing mandates on teachers for the amount of instructional time that needs to occur through these programs. There are still several teachers who were not ready for this increased dependents on computer programs and, as a result, have either gone one of two ways. The first way is that they are either actively disobeying district directives and not utilizing the programs-leading to disciplinary actions – or they feel that they no longer are a valued member of the organization and utilize the technology more than necessary, decreasing their performance. Technology in organizations and how much it can benefit depends heavily on if the organization is ready to accept and utilize it and if leadership is prepared to properly make sure that organizational members have the support as needed.  WEEK 6 LDR 804 STUDENT RESPONSES
