            In business, simplicity refers to the state where a concept is put in such a position that it is easy to comprehend.  In marketing, simplicity aims at allowing a flow of information to the target recipients in a way that is not sophisticated and allows for easy interpretation. Delivering the unexpected while still keeping it all simple and easy to understand is key in winning the buyer’s heart.  In this project, the relevance of simplicity marketing through packaging was assessed. The aim of the study was to shed light on the influence that simplicity in packaging of mobile phones has on buyer’s decisions for both physical and online and markets.  The study shows that safe, unique and simple packaging has the power to influence the decision of a new buyer towards a specific type of mobile phone as well as to change the perception of an old buyer towards the mobile phone. Simplicity in marketing   Results further illustrated that simplicity in the package color, labelling, quality of package material, simplicity in design of the package as well as the language used to write on the package have immediate effects on the decision of the buyer.

Literature Review

            In the layman’s context, simplicity just means a state of or the absence of complications. In business simplicity a state where ideas or concepts are presented in such a way that comprehending or understanding the flow is easy. In real life scenarios, simplicity enhances the speed of communication in production, transactions, the learning process, scientific innovations, as well in handling day to day activities in life.

In education, for example keeping unobvious but simple curriculum in teaching and trainings would deliver quality outcome that would not be delivered by complex and pasted systems. An example is its application in sports trainings. In a team that loses several successive seasons of matches, trainers may spend a lot of time surfing the internet for complex tactics to beat opponent teams, without realizing that the secret lies in employing the simple tactics at their disposal, in the right way. (Maeda, 2018). In the management of health institutions, characterized with high levels of infections, it would be advisable to keep simple procedures regarding the prevention of infection. All that is needed is an evidence of the dangers related, before a simplified training procedure can be undertaken. A checklist would be applied to ensure that all staff members follow the procedures as outlined. (Maeda, 2018)

Scientific researches and innovations have been able to drive technology and to simplify life gradually over time. Research and innovations are the force behind the shift in the manner in which production is conducted from the old traditional procedures to the modern day production with advanced technological know-how. In the innovation diffusion chain, the effect of simplicity of an innovation is explained Simplicity in marketing . The speed by which a new innovation penetrates the market is heavily dependent on its ease of understanding and application to daily activities. An example is the mobile phone technology. (Matthew & McNeill, 2016). When first hitting the market, a type of mobile phones that is simple and easy to use were the first to be supplied. Due to their simplicity, their penetration into the market was easy and fast. (Kerajuto, 2005) (Maeda, 2018), (Bibi Noraimi2015)

 

Findings

            The results show away from the features of  mobile phones, packaging of mobile of mobile phones play a significantr role in determining the sales of mobile phones both in physical shops and on online shopping sites. Physical buyers tend to get attracted to safe and simple, but not obviously expected  packaging. Simplicity in the manner in which the package material is designed tends to have an immidiate influence on the decision of buyers. While shopping online, most buyers tend to focus on the packaging since it tells of their favourite product brands. It is therefore easy to sell generic products whose pockaging almost resembles that of the original product.

            Various aspects of  packaging were also discovered to have influence in the market performance of mobile phones. Since some customers directly relate the quality of packaging to prices of mobile phones, it is important that packaging is of good quality, safe to carry but not obvious. When a similar brand of mobile phone was packaged into different type of the packaging material of similar color and design, it was discovered that diefferent classes and gender of buyers preffered different material. Some preffered carton packaging while others preffered velvet and others metallic packaging Simplicity in marketing . Most of the male gender buyers stuck to a range colors from dull to mild bright colors. Also, most buyers of mobile phones were dicovered to relate the design and material packaging of their preffered phones to prices. A good number of the buyers shy away sophisticated packaging, with a belief that they are of higher prices. In the design of packaging, most preffer simple deigns that are simple to manipulate.

Suggestions

Having regarded the benefits of simplicity and its application in various circumstances of day to day life, it is important to note the the basis of simplicity is exclusing a lot, and using only less. In implementing simplicity to a given idea, its important to verify its workability, its benefits and the challenges that you would face in your implementation. For example, in applying simplicity in health systems to reduce the levels infections, the reliability and workability of the chosen methord should be estimated. The advantage of sampling risk, training and following with a checkliost is that the dangers of infections is already known, hence the staff focusses on reducing the rates of infections. The disadvantage of this methord is that it is post action. Late action since an already existing victim is used tpo set an example to the rest Simplicity in marketing .  Difficulties might arise in its application, regarding commotion and limitation of time as compared to the procedures involved in undertalkimg the training.

To summarise , simplicity in marketing should be widely applied. It has the advantages of being cost effective as well time saving. Simplicity in marketing cuts on the cost of production and hence on the cost of products and therefotre ensuring affordablity of products.
