During Week 2 you will select a disease and inform me of your choice via a discussion post. There will be no duplication of disease topic so don’t wait too long to decide. You will then research and write a 5 page paper on that disease. You will be tasked with providing the following information:
Vital information to include:
Cause of disease
Course of disease
Treatments available (if any)
Therapeutic management
Prognosis
Avoidance/Prevention
How does this disease affect you as an embalmer?
Optional information to include:
How often does this occur?
Are any specific groups more susceptible?
How does this disease affect others? (families, communities, regions, etc.) Pathology Research Paper Guidelines

Paper must be formatted according to APA formatting guidelines. If you are unfamiliar with APA formatting, the following link is extremely helpful:
https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.html
The landing page has good information on basic formatting. Follow the links to the left for more specific information. PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO WRITE AN ABSTRACT
Your paper should include a cover page, 5 page report, and a bibliography.
You will need to include a minimum of 5 solid sources for your citations. Acceptable sources include medical journal articles, published research articles, peer reviewed journal articles. While things such as Wikipedia and WebMD do have information available, these are not acceptable for your 5 main citation articles.
You will need to submit an outline of your paper to me by the end of Week 6. Your paper is due by the end of Week 9. No late submissions will be accepted. This is not an optional assignment. Keep in mind this paper is an exam grade, which are 40% of your total grade. Do not wait until the last minute to begin. If you need assistance on how to research, or general formatting question, I am happy to help – just ask.
