Submit an evidence-based practice PPT about cultural competency in mental health nursing. An evidence-based practice PPT allows you to explore best practice and help improve client outcomes on a psychiatric unit. Your PPT should describe how you, as a nurse, will include – or have included – cultural awareness in a client diagnosed with a mental illness. • Assessment: Discuss what you would assess in regard to a client’s culture. For example, are there specific dietary requirements? Are schedule changes necessary to avoid conflicts with religious practices? Who is the spokesperson for the family? What would you assess?
• Diagnosis: List any mental health (2) nursing diagnoses this person has or may be at risk for. Include at Nursing least (1) cultural diagnosis. (2 + 1 = 3 diagnoses)
• Planning: What planning needs to be done to ensure the cultural and emotional safety of the client? “The patient will…..?”
• Implementation: What are interventions that would ensure the safety of your client in regard to culture? Include at least two interventions. For example, if your client has religious beliefs that affect the ability to take medications, what interventions would you create to ensure the client’s safety? What can you do to make sure the client’s cultural needs are met? “The nurse will…..”
• Evaluation: How will you evaluate whether your implementation was effective? Make sure the parameters are objective and measurable–Use numbers and scales. 
• In your summary, discuss whether any completed interventions were successful. What could be done differently in the future? If the interventions have not yet been carried out, you might discuss some institutional changes that could be made to ensure cultural safety for all clients in that setting. Nursing

Brief Scenario Description
Students will understand the signs, symptoms, treatments, and outcomes for patients diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Bipolar. Likewise, students will develop a safety plan and will review Seclusion and Restraint as it applies within an inpatient mental health setting. Last, students will view videos of people living with schizophrenia and reflect upon what they have learned.

As part of an initiative to build effective collaboration at your Vila Health site, where you are a nurse, you have been asked to reflect on a project or experience in which you collaborated interprofessionally and examine what happened during the collaboration, identifying positive aspects and areas for improvement. You will need to relate an experience that you have had collaborating on a project. This could be at your current or former place of practice, or another relevant project that will enable you to address the requirements. In addition to describing your experience, you should explain aspects of the collaboration that helped the team make progress toward relevant goals or outcomes, as well as aspects of the collaboration that could have been improved.

Building on this investigation, identify at least one leadership best practice or strategy that you believe would improve the team’s ability to achieve their goals. Be sure to identify the strategy and its source or author and provide a brief rationale for your choice of strategy.
Additionally, identify at least one interdisciplinary collaboration best practice or strategy to help the team achieve its goals and work more effectively together. Again, identify the strategy, its source, and reasons why you think it will be effective.
You are encouraged to integrate lessons learned from your self-reflection to support and enrich your discussion of the Vila Health activity.
You are required to submit an APA-formatted reference list for any sources that you cited specifically in your video or used to inform your presentation. The Example Kaltura Reflection will show you how to cite scholarly sources in the context of an oral presentation.

Vila Health: Collaboration for Change

Scenario (briefly explained): Health care facility began using a different EHR and told staff that it would be great and make their lives so much easier. That did not happen. There were a lot of glitches and management was not there to support them, nor was IT. Nurses began getting frustrated with each other as well as management/IT. It was not a good work or healing environment.
Question:
What are some of the ways in which staff collaboration failed in the implementation of the EHR?
Answer:
There was limited training for staff. When staff was struggling with the new system, management and IT were not there to support them.
Question:
What could have been done differently on the management side to facilitate better collaboration?
Answer:
Management could have guided the staff through the process with trainings and extra support from IT.
Question:
How about on the care staff side?
Answer:
Staff were very upset by how this new system was brought into the work place. More teamwork could have helped the situation. Instead, they started getting frustrated with each other.

The goal of this assessment is to clearly lay out the improvement objective for your planned interdisciplinary intervention of the issue you identified. Additionally, be sure to further build on the leadership, change, and collaboration research you completed in the previous assessment.
