The health status of the family as a unit including the impact of the health of one member of the family on the family as a unit and on individual family members.it is also the impact of family organization or disorganization on the health status of its members. Family health is important because many common, treatable diseases can be the result of a combination of environmental factors and genetic factors received from our ancestors. With the diversity of genes, we are the product of no less than our generations of relatives. The use of technology and the advances in medicine, patients are able to have a more exact understanding of the conditions their relatives have or had. By carefully assessing and archiving that information, patients are better able to understand their relative susceptibility to these conditions. With these information health care providers may be able to help prevent or intervene early upon certain conditions that otherwise would interfere with our quality of life. Small symptoms that may otherwise be overlooks can be an alert when your health care provider already knows what to look for, when you provide your family health history.

“Health promotion and disease prevention is expected knowledge for a registered nurse” (Grand Canyon, 2018). Nurses knowledges includes to identify risk factors for disease or illness, healthy risks, immunization schedules and health education to help people achieve optimal health. In order to determine which strategies for health promotion to use nurses must assess and gather information about people’s problems and nursing diagnoses that will help the nurse to identify the health promotion and education needs of the people.
